Figure 1 shim type is identified as CX-230 where the C represents the circular notch and X represents the linear cross-like notch within the circle. The 230 represents a 0.002 inch (0.05 mm) thick shim with a notch depth of 30% of thickness. The CX-430 (Figure 2) is the same except that thickness is 0.004 inch (0. 10 mm).
Figure 3 shim type is identified as 3C2-234 where the 3C2 represents three circles in a 0.002 inch (0.05 mm) thick shim. The -234 represents notch depths at 20%，30%, and 40% of the shim thickness. The 3C4-234 (Figure 4) is identical except that shim thickness is 0.004 inch (0.10 mm).
Figure 5 shim type is identified as CX4-230 where the CX4 represents four circles with cross-type notches in one shim. The -230 represents a 30% deep notch in a 0.002 inch (0.05 mm) thick shim.The -430 (Figure 6) is identical except that shim thickness is 0.004 inch (O. 10 mm).
Responsibility for Inspection:The manufacturer shall be responsible for the performance of all tests, on each lot, to ensure conformance to all required tests. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform any confirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that shims conform to specified requirements.
Material Analysis:Manufacturer shall maintain a chemical analysis or certification for each roll of material used to make the shims. A copy of the analysis or certification shall be provided on request.SAE AS 5371A pdf free download.
