SAE AMS 4173G:2019 pdf free.Aluminum Alloy, Extrusions
The vendor of extrusions shall furnish with each shipment a report stating that the extrusions conform to the chemical composition, ultrasonic inspection when specified, and tolerances and showing the numerical results of tests on each inspection lot to determine conformance to the other acceptance test requirements. This report shall include the purchase order number, inspection lot number, AMS4173G, size or section identification number, extrusion type, class of heat treatment, and quantity. The report shall also identify the producer, the product form, and the size of the mill product.
When material produced to this specification has exceptions authorized by purchaser taken to the technical requirements listed in Section 3, the report shall contain a statement“This material is certified as AMS4173G(EXC) because of the following exceptions:.” and the specific exceptions shall be listed.
A change bar (l) located in the left margin is for the convenience of the user in locating areas where technical revisions, not editorial changes, have been made to the previous issue of this document. An (R) symbol to the left of the document title indicates a complete revision of the document, including technical revisions. Change bars and (R) are not used in original publications, nor in documents that contain editorial changes only.
Hardness of extrusions should be not lower than 80HB/10/500 or 85HB/10/1000, determined in accordance with ASTM E10. Hardness has been used to verify that extrusions are properly processed, but an out-of-range hardness number is not always indicative of extrusions with out-of-specification tensile properties. Further analysis, including material composition verification, heat treat process parameter review, and/or tensile property measurement on out-of-range hardness, may be necessary.
Unless otherwise specified, the material producer shall work to the revision of this specification (AMS4173) in effect on the date of order placement. Unless otherwise specified, material manufactured and certified to the immediately previous revision of this specification (AMS4173) may be procured and used until inventory is depleted.SAE AMS 4173G pdf free download.
