SAE AMS 7004:2019 pdf free.Titanium Alloy Preforms from Plasma Arc Directed Energy Deposition Additive Manufacturing on Substrate
Preforms shall be stress relieved in accordance with AMS2801 in an inert or vacuum atmosphere by heating to a selected set point temperature between 1250 to 1450 °F (677 to 788 °C). Hold at the selected temperature within ±25 °F (±14 °C) for a length of time commensurate with the cross-section size, followed by furnace-cool to 925°F (496 °C) prior to cooling with inert gas or nitrogen to room temperature. When using a contact load sensor, the soaking time necessary to heat the center of the thickest section of the preform shall be per AMS2801, Table 2, Note 3 and Table 4, Note 1.
Shall be as specified in Table 2, determined in accordance with ASTM E8/E8M on specimens as in 4.3.1.2. The tensile specimen dimensions shall be in accordance with ASTM E8/E8M using Figure 8, Small Size Specimen 5 (0.113 inch diameter and 0.450 inch gauge length) or larger samples. The strain rate shall be set at 0.005 in/in/min (0.005 mm/mm/min) and maintained within a tolerance of +0.002 in/in/min (0.002 mm/mm/min) through the 0.2% offset yield strain. Beyond yield point a strain rate of 0.05 in/in/min (0.05 mm/mm/min) and maintained within a tolerance of ±0.01 in/in/min (0.01 mm/mm/min) shall be used until fracture. Tensile properties shall be met within and across the PA-DED additive manufactured material, substrate interface and substrate. If the substrate is not integral to the final part, substrate interface does not need to meet the tensile properties in Table 2. If the substrate is integral to the final part, both the Heat Affected Zone (HAZ) and bulk PA-DED material require mechanical property verification per Table 2. X direction is defined as parallel to the deposition direction. Y direction is defined as perpendicular to the deposition direction and parallel to the substrate.Z direction is defined as perpendicular to the deposition direction and to the substrate. As a minimum, at least one specimen in the X or Y and one in the Z direction shall be tested for lot acceptance. If preform geometry does not allow for testing in Z direction, X or Y direction specimen is sufficient when authorized by the CEO.SAE AMS 7004 pdf free download.
