The recommended optical tests methods applicable in the context of this standard are detailed in Table 3 (see note). These tests shall be carried out without backshells. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all examination requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use their own, or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the examination requirements herein.
All items shall meet the examination requirements detailed in this specification and shall become a part of the contractor’s overall examination system or quality program. The absence of any examination requirements in the specification shall not relieve the contractor of the responsibility of ensuring that all products or supplies submitted to the procuring activity for acceptance comply with all the requirements of the contract. Sampling examination as part of manufacturing operations is an acceptable practice to ascertain conformance to requirements, however, this does not authorize submission of known defective material, either indicated or actual, nor does it commit the procuring activity to accept defective material.
The manufacturer’s reliability assurance program for connector accessories and assembly procedures shall comply with the AS9100 requirements. Other established and industry recognized quality assurance standards that assure all products produced conform to the contract requirements are acceptable. However, if used, it is the responsibility of the manufacturer to provide evidence of compliance to AS9100.
