SAE J2042:2018 pdf free.Clearance, Sidemarker, and ldentification Lamps for On-Road Vehicles 2032 mm or More in Overall Width
Each lamp shall conform to the zone total photometric requirements of Figure 1 (red), Figure 2 (yellow), and/or Figure 3 (white) and their footnotes. The sum of intensity measurements at all test points within a zone shall be not less than the required zone total, except that front yellow or white clearance and identification lamps mounted on the roof of a motor vehicle (excluding trailers) need not meet the photometric requirements at 20D, 45L to 45R. Zone totals should be reduced by the values at these test points, as listed in Figures 2 and 3, when testing a lamp intended for roof mounting.
When a clearance lamp is combined with a stop and/or turn signal lamp, the stop and/or turn signal lamp intensity shall be not less than three times the luminous intensity of the clearance lamp at every test point, except at H-V,H-5L, H-5R, and 5U-V, the stop or turn signal lamp intensity shall not be less than five times the luminous intensity of the clearance lamp.
The red rearmost sidemarker lamp shall be mounted on the permanent structure of the vehicle not less than 38.1 cm nor more than 152.5 cm above the road surface, as measured from the center of the lamp at trailer curb weight.
ldentification lamps shall be mounted on the permanent structure of the vehicle as near as practicable to its longitudinal centerline, to the top of the vehicle, and to the frontmost and rearmost extent of the vehicle, with the three lamps not less than 15 cm nor more than 30 cm apart, center to center.
When the rear identification lamps are mounted at the extreme height of the vehicle, rear clearance lamps need not meet the requirement that they be mounted as close as practicable to the top of the vehicle.
Lamps shall comply with all photometric requirements of Figure 1 (red), Figure 2 (yellow), and/or Figure 3 (white) as installed on the vehicle, with all vehicular obstructions considered, except that yellow or white clearance and identification lamps mounted on the roof of a motor vehicle (excluding trailers) need not meet the photometric requirements of 20D, 45L to 45R.SAE J2042 pdf free download.
